The address on xAI's page says vertex-ai. The text on it says something else: Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, access through Model Garden. A small difference. Exactly the kind everyone else copies afterwards.
Fact
The facts: since 21 August 2026, xAI's Grok 4.6 is available inside Google's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, through Model Garden. It is described as xAI's newest flagship model, built for long running agents, with a 500,000 token context and adjustable reasoning level. Price: $2 per million input tokens, $0.50 per million cached input tokens, $6 per million output tokens. Source: xAI's announcement.
I read it simply. Google has customers who would never open an account with xAI, because the company looks small to them, new, tied to one person. Now the model sits in Google's own menu, next to their own. The customer picks a line from the list and rarely asks who is behind it.
Google is not selling somebody else's model. It is selling you access to it, wrapped in its own shopfront.
For you the meaning is practical. If your company already goes through Google for agents, Grok is one click closer than it was yesterday. Try it on a real task from your own work, not on a demo.
