Meta became an AI channel in the Shopify admin, and your products are shared with it by default

Since 8 September Meta appears among the AI channels in Shopify's Agentic Storefronts. Your catalog flows to it by default, and it is up to you whether to stop it.

One sentence in Shopify's note is the important one: your products are shared with Meta by default.

Not after you press a button. Already. If you have a Shopify store, since 8 September your catalog has been flowing there, unless you went in and said otherwise.

Fact

The facts: on 8 September 2026 Shopify announced in its official changelog that Meta now appears among the AI channels in Agentic Storefronts in the store admin. The merchant's products are shared with Meta by default through Shopify Catalog. The merchant manages access for Catalog and for direct checkout and can view Meta's performance in the agentic settings.

To be honest, I don't think it's a bad move. If people ask an assistant what to buy, better it sees your product than the one next door.

But with a catalog this means your product data already lives in someone else's system as well, and you didn't decide it.

On by default means someone already decided for you.

Go to the agentic settings and look at the two switches: Catalog and direct checkout. Leave them on if you want them. Just let it be your decision.
